  • Father James S. Petrie (Pastor) (pastor@quickclic.net)

    Father Jim is a native of Hamilton, being raised in the central mountain area. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary School, Saint Thomas More and Saint Jean de Brebeuf Secondary Schools. He also attended McMaster University and the University of Saint Jerome's - University of Waterloo. Father Jim entered Saint Augustine's Seminary in Toronto in 1989. He received his Masters of Divinity in 1994. Father Jim was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Hamilton in 1994. He has served as an associate pastor at the Church of Our Lady Immaculate in Guelph, ON., Saint Clement Parish in Cambridge (Preston), ON., and Saint Paul the Apostle Parish in Burlington, ON. In 2002, he was appointed pastor of Saint Gregory the Great Parish in Cambridge (Galt), ON. In June 2006, he was named pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Stoney Creek (Elfrida), ON. Father Jim also is involved with ministry to the deaf and hard-of-hearing community for the Diocese of Hamilton.

  • Reverend Mr. Geronimo Guinto (Permanent Deacon) (assumption@quickclic.net)

    Deacon Gerry is a native of the Philippines. He and his wife Leonida came to the Hamilton area in 1970. They have three sons and three beautiful daughters-in-law. Gerry and Leonida also have 4 grandchildren, whom they love dearly. Gerry and Leonida have been involved heavily in the parish community since 1977 and since retiring from Stelco, Gerry felt a calling to serve God as a permanent deacon. Gerry entered the program in 2002 and in June 2006, was ordained a permanent deacon for the Diocese of Hamilton. Gerry is involved in many aspects of ministry in the parish. Many are drawn to him by his warm smile and inviting presence.

  • Susan Klunder (Pastoral Assistant) (sklunder@quickclic.net)

    Susan originally hails from the beautiful city of Montreal. She and her family moved to Burlington the 1960s where she met her husband Theo. She has two daughters and sons-in-law and four grandchildren whom she doesn't mind spoiling. Susan was also involved heavily in the parish community and in 2003, Former Pastor, Father Louis Lenssen C.R.S.P., hired her in the capacity of Pastoral Assistant. Susan is a capable member of the pastoral team and is involved in many aspects of sacramental preparation and religious education in the parish community.

  • Vincent DiGregorio (Coordinator of Music Ministry)

    Vincent comes to Our Lady of the Assumption Parish with many years of experience as both a high school music teacher but also as an accomplish musician. He has been involved in the parish music ministry program for many years coordinating at one time, the parish children's choir and currently with the Catholic Women's League choir. Vincent, his wife Nancy and his daughters, have been long time members of the Assumption Parish community.

  • Eva Wood (Parish Secretary) (assumption@quickclic.net)

    Eva was born and raised in Hamilton. Eva has a daughter and is an avid animal lover. Her biggest hobby is spoiling her grandson. She came to Assumption in 1974 as a parishioner. In 1997, she was hired to help in the office. She is also the office coordinator for Birthright Hamilton. She too, brings a warm presence to the office environment. She makes the parish run as smoothly as possible.

  • Gilles Arguin (Custodian)

    Gilles comes originally from Saskatchewan. He is the one who keeps the facility in tip-top shape. He and his family are members of the parish community for many years.

  • Bernadette Campbell (Housekeeping)

    Bernadette hails originally from the East Coast. She takes great pride in her heritage. She is a mother and grandmother who loves her family very much. She has the burdensome responsibility of keeping Father Jim's home clean and tidy. Bernadette is an animal lover and dotes on her dog, Lily and keeps Benedict (Father Jim's cat) well looked after.
